Jijoca de Jericoacoara Ceara Brazil
Jijoca de Jericoacoara is located in the northern part of Brazil in the state of Ceará. It is famous for its beautiful unspoild Jericoacoara Beach that consists of blue lagoons, calm seas and huge dunes. The name “Jericoaquara” comes from the tupi language and means “lair of the turtles”.
To get to the so called Jeri beach best start in Fortaleza Brazil, use a 4 wheel car or as many do and if you get a chance rent a beach buggy, large parts of the road are covered with sand so the around 60 minute drive can be a bit challenging. There is also a VIP bus by Fretcar available from Fortaleza.
Jijoca de Jericoacoara is one of the most beautiful places in Brazil from where one can see the sun sink into the ocean. This show is often viewed by many, both visitors and locals, from the tall “Sunset dune” just next to the village. The village has streets covered in sand from the dunes by the sea. Jericoacoara is a popular spot for kitesurfing, windsurfing, sailing and Buggy tours. The lagoons with fine sand and crystal clear waters in various shades of green and blue, for example the Blue Lagoon is the stopping point of the buggy rides. Along the coast you find some bars and restaurants with sun loungers and hammocks.
This part of Brazil is not so overrun and crowded like Rios Copacabana or Ipanema beach for example, aldo in vacation time in Brazil you find also here large crowds. Its well worth to visit the area and discover also the Jericoacoara National Park for all its beauty in flora and fauna plus fantastic landscapes it has to offer. There are some budget Posadas or Hotels in the area as well as good restaurants can be found here.
